SJK Akatemia – April Barcelona 2012
Recently back from a most successful trip to a superb training facility only 55 kilometers outside Barcelona by the name of Santa Suzana where the best SJK ‘Special Group’ players accompanied the SJK 1st team on their 2012 pre season tour.
Santa Suzana, a warmer climate to FI is situated in a lively resort which comes alive in the summer hosting various football clubs from around the. SJK’s “Special Group” of players rubbed shoulders with the SJK first team to help them realise the level required to be a professional player. What a better way than to accompany the SJK first team in preparation for the new Season beginning next weekend. SJK 1st Team Manager Christoffer Kloo and 1st Team coach Max Peltonen have embraced the importance of Jamie Shores appointment as Academy Technical Director by allowing the best SJK Academy players to shadow the first team on Fridays in training and now allowing the younger lads to join them in Barcelona. “Allowing the best young SJK Special Players to train and tour in tandem abodes well for the future – this is a promising start” commented Jamie on the new idea of closing the gap between Academy and First team.
Four Players from England also joined the group to make a 14 man strong squad. “Our SJK Finnish players made the English boy’s feel welcome straight from the start – We must look further afield for good players and give an opportunity for them to earn a place at our club! Tough competition for places in the team is healthy for our players no matter what Country they are from”. Jamie Shore stated on the future of the Club.
“Our boys were impeccably behaved, on and off the pitch”, More important than the result, is the concentration of Nutrition, Technical, Social, and physical aspects of the players development’’. Comments Jamie Shore, the SJK’s Technical director. “We had 3 hours of concentrated training and then we played a game before returning to Finland. The performance was a reflection of their overall discipline and preparation. The game was an excellent extension to things worked on in training where SJK 2nd goal came from work on the training field ‘defending from the front’ which was the most pleasing part of the exercise”. SJK certainly made an impact, going ahead twice but only to lose 3-2 in the final 10 minutes by two quick successive strikes. Our players would have learned more about themselves in 4 days than they probably have in 4 years – that’s what these tour do”.
Almost the highlight of this tour was a trip to Barcelona’s ‘The Camp Nou’ which seats 99,354 making it the largest stadium in Europe and the eleventh largest in the world. SJK players and their coaches where able to visit the dressing rooms, pitch-side, look at the museum and see the stadium that has held two champions league finals. “This was a once in a lifetime experience for our potential young professionals – if this doesn’t motivate you to play at the highest level then I don’t know what will!” says Jamie.
This was a great start to establishing a team bond and spirit within this talented young group[ of players at SJK.
Well done!
Jamie Shore
Technical Director

The Spannish Clubs produce thinking players – They are surprisingly small, clever, with phenomenal technique with a unique playing style which promotes teams building play from back to front through the midfield. Steve Lilley (former Cambridge Utd Youth Development Officer) whose side competed in a tournament east of Berlin stated: ‘Real Madrid’ were excellent in the tournament and so slick they embarrassed every team in the tournament. The Germans are also well organised, facilities and coaches. That’s why SJK have some Elite tournaments in Germany organised for our SJK players Born’2000 in January 2013.
